Honoring youth hockey in Minnesota

Skate for State is a unique collaboration between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Youth Hockey to honor year-end level champions of youth hockey. In addition, Skate for State celebrates the State of Hockey throughout the season with photo and video contests.

Each year, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota donates 200 tickets for the reigning state champion teams to attend Youth Hockey Night and be recognized on the ice during intermission.

This year, Youth Hockey Night takes place on Tuesday, March 28th at the Wild vs. Washington Capitals game. The first 5,000 fans 18 and under will receive a Skate for State hockey puck presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.

Past Minnesota Youth Hockey champions are honored in the Skate for State concourse display at the Excel Energy Center between sections 106 and 107. The display acknowledges not only the Minnesota Hockey Youth state champions, but also former Wild players who skated in a Minnesota Hockey youth state tournament.
